The REAL "Fair & Balanced" news source

Posted by bruni on September 30, 2008

at least demographically by viewers:

The general public has become more Democratic since 2006, and this is reflected in the audiences for leading TV news outlets. The audiences for CNN and MSNBC, which were heavily Democratic two years ago, have become even more so: fully 51% of CNN’s regular viewers are Democrats while only 18% are Republicans. MSNBC’s audience makeup is similar - 45% of regular viewers of MSNBC are Democrats, 18% are Republicans.

The regular audience for nightly network news also is now about two-to-one Democratic (45% vs. 22% Republican). In 2006, 40% of the regular viewers of nightly network news were Democrats compared with 28% who were Republicans.

Official U.S. Economy as a Presidential campaign issue thread

Posted by bruni on September 30, 2008

While reading threads based upon the political theatre that is the U.S. presidential election on this forum, I keep stumbling upon posts that mention ‘how bad’ the economy is, and this thread is meant to educate ME and perhaps others on the subject of what our trillion dollar debt actually means, and what can the candidates do to fix it.
Stop beating around the bush in other threads, I want to know the situation, and both sides’ solutions.
Well right off the bat we all know that trickle down economics does not work.

Palin’s AFFIRMATIVE ACTION for Alaskans v. Alaskonomics

Posted by bruni on September 28, 2008

Palin likes to bring up how Alaska supplies 20% of the US’s domestic production. Oddly enough, she taxes possibly $60 or more into the price of a barrel of oil before sending it down the pipeline to us.

She then gives Alaskans a $3200 rebate check from the oil tax revenues. So, as governor, she basically jacks up the price of oil for the rest of America but cuts Alaskans a break by refunding that money to them. What’s the motto for her husband’s old political party….?

Biden sparring with a Palin stand-in

Posted by bruni on September 28, 2008

Democrat Joe Biden has tapped Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm to be the stand-in for Sarah Palin as he prepares for next month’s vice presidential debate.

Biden predicted that Palin would try to make their debate personal and said he wouldn’t respond in kind if she attacked him.

Will the gaffe machine still activate during the VP debate?

Ron Paul Plans ‘Special Announcement’

Posted by bruni on September 28, 2008

Rep. Ron Paul, the former Republican presidential candidate who excited a multitude of young voters during the primaries, announced a “major” news conference in Washington Wednesday.

With a range of third-party candidates at his side – including the Libertarian Party’s Bob Barr, independent candidate Ralph Nader, the Constitution Party’s Chuck Baldwin and the Green Party’s Cynthia McKinney – it’s unlikely that Paul will pick just one to support. But his spokesman said to expect “something of an endorsement,” with “a real effect on this fall’s election.”

McCain seems to have done better on cutting pork-barrel then Obama in 2007

Posted by bruni on September 26, 2008

McCain has a 100% approval rating on cutting pork barrel spending in 2007. 88% life time.

Obama has a 10% approval rating on cutting pork barrel spending in 2007. 18% life time.

(does this mean that John McCain votes with the taxpayers 88% of the time? )

Another interesting angle on these two canidates
….at least until he appointed the most pork-gobbling governor in the Union as his VP.

I am comparing McCain to Obama, there is no approval ratings by the CAGW for governors.

Obama’s tax plan at it’s core is about "Neighborliness"

Posted by bruni on September 26, 2008

"If I am sitting pretty, and you’ve got a waitress who is making minimum wage plus tips, and I can afford it and she can’t — what’s the big deal for me to say, ‘I’m going to pay a little bit more.’ That is neighborliness."

Is this guy for real, is his tax policy straight out of the communist manifesto?

"From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs"

What would life be like in an ObamaNation? There’s the government sitting there watching you – watching you work – watching you go the extra mile. The government takes note of the fact that you pursued an advanced education. Then the government observes you working 50, 60 maybe 80 hours a week trying to start a business. The government watches your income as it rises. Finally at some point the government says "Enough! You now have more than you need! There are people out there who did not pursue an education like you did. There are people out there who did not work as hard and as long as you did. There are people out there who did not make the careful choices and take the risks you did. Now you have to be a good neighbor. So we’re going to take some of that money you don’t need and ’spread the wealth’, so to speak."
