A Reality Check On ‘Change’
Being labeled a ‘maverick’ sounds good to the public, but it makes it hard to forge bipartisan deals.

From the magazine issue dated Sep 22, 2008
So far the fall campaign has majored in Sarah Palin, with a minor in the false ads launched (though rarely widely aired) by John McCain. Rather than debating whether Barack Obama voted to teach sex education to kindergartners (he didn’t) or called Sarah Palin a pig (he didn’t), it would be nice if the central dynamic of this contest were about, say, the record and temperament of each candidate. Is that asking too much?

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75-year old Texas rancher whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man.
Eventually the topic got around to Sarah Palin and her bid to be a heartbeat away from being President .
The old rancher said, ‘Well, ya know, Palin is a post turtle.’
Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a post turtle was.
The old rancher said, ‘When you’re driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, it’s a post turtle.’

Just as it happened to JFK. Not talking about conspiracy and weird stuff, (could be), but talking about some mad person who does not really like changes, specially if we talk about wars and international policy.
Anything is possible, but something like that would set us back 50 years in this country.
It would be the end of America
no matter who gets elected someone will plot to kill him.
i highly doubt obama has any more chance of being killed than any other president.

I really don’t understand how many dumb people in the United States can really believe McCain/Palin…
You mean that muslim terrorist? Look at who he’s been pal’in around with since he was 8…..
Both parties will enslave us all!!! We’re fucked!!!
And a friend to a 60’s radicalist who can’t stomach Obama? But people are still trying to link him to Ayers as a last minute "quick look over here and vote for McCain/Palin" diversion? Or the fact McCain has turned into a dishonest politican that we once knew from 2000 and 2004?

This is in no way intended for rational discussion.
Drink every time one of these words/phrases is mentioned by your candidate:
Look I’m not going to
raise your taxes
maverick
surge
bracelet
tax credit
cut taxes
fannie/freddie
wall st.
American people know me
my record
William Ayers or Rev. Wright (double for same sentence, that’s 4)
My Friends
Governor Palin

Ayers?
is this for srsly?
markets worldwide are failing so hard that they require serious government intervention, yet ~40% of America still apparently wants to vote for the guy who, self-admittedly, knows nothing about economics and wants to slash taxes across the board and keep interest rates at 0.
but Obama had lunch with Bill Ayers.

god damn that was painful
not one real question in the lot
i enjoyed it mainly cause of ot replies in the main forum
McCain win: HOLY SHIT, THAT DEBATE WAS AMAZING.
McCain lose: Aww man. That shit was boring as hell.
i didnt get to hear one question on Ayers wtf
the first few questions, it seemed they were running rough-shod over each other.
the format sucks. for each question, give each guy 1 minute, then 30 seconds, then 15 seconds. Then next question, same topic. repeat 3 x. new topic, 3 more questions…..

I don’t care if he was a VP of a division at Goldman Sachs, was there really noone more qualified than him? Looks like typical cronyism of the Bush administration, Paulson picked him because he was his drinking buddy at Goldman.
you’re the one who wants this bullshit bailout so badly, what did you expect was going to happen moron?

then why don’t people think McCain is part of the IRA since he has an Irish name?
lettuce discus.
maybe because obama hung out with the guy who bombed the pentagon
Because the IRA didn’t attack the United States and kill over 2,000 of its citizens.
McCain doesn’t have Irish parents either. I can’t believe this was even brought up. I wish I could see what is going on in your head….on second thought, I think I’d rather not.
Well Obama doesn’t have terrorists for parents, so I feel like it’s a safe argument.
