I did skip "This is John Galt Speaking" after the first time

Is that the 50 something page soliloquy?

read it several years ago, got so engrossed in it only took me 3 weeks, need to reread it sometime
it was out at the library . ONE fucking copy. I picked up free to choose instead

im reading it right now.. so far soo good. I liked the Fountainhead, so this one will likely be more from what ive read.

Yep

I read it in 2 days the first time.

I also had a broken ankle, in all fairness
Fountainhead took me forever. I dont particularly like reading, so I rarely made time for it, but so long I felt like an idiot.
i am watching season 1 of mad men and they mentioned this book
shit sucks bro

objectivism sucks

rational self-interest sucks

ayn rand sucks
1100 pages isn’t shit

it’s definitely worth reading even if you don’t agree

You’re everything that’s wrong with this country.

much better than irrational self interest like buying 22" for your caprice rather than taking care of a kid

WRONG NARCISIS BRO

wtf makes you think that one could actuually read that book?

I like "We the Living"
Damn that shit is hella long son. How long is War and Peace? Like 1200 pages right? Longest book I ever read was like 700 pages long.

Holy shit really?

1200 pages would take me like a month to read. I could never read that much in 2 days.

for what reason

wah wah wah
Don’t take from it the literal idea that our economy should be a free-for-all. Any political position taken to an extreme is bound to fail. Take from it the idea that to put our trust in a bunch of politicians, who are really only looking out for themselves, to run a country, and direct entire industries is nothing short of demanding failure. When people clamor for a bunch of lawyers (the vast majority of politicians are lawyers by trade), many who have hardly held real jobs, to rule our lives, we have truly given up our self determination.

I read fast, plus I was a captive audience. It was books, internets, and TV.

Uh what?
Read 600 pages of it and finally had enough. I’m holier than thou because I’m not a leecher.

Hit a little too close to home for comfort?

I’m an engineer
half way through fountainhead i started acting/thinking like Roark and people hated me

FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

And James Taggart ran a railroad.

The Obama years. No joke.

And?

So no it didn’t hit close to home.

how does being an engineer make you not a leech?

because you’re an engineer

obviously
