The Democrats have been focused on McCain’s age and Obama’s race far more than the Republicans have given a shit about the color of Obama’s skin.

Most liberals preach about being open-minded and all that, but are far from it themselves.
I think it’s somewhat legitimate to criticise McCain for being an old man, since he’s demonstrated all sorts of old main traits that should concern the electorate ->

inability to remember simple things, such as what he did or said yesterday, as well as basic facts

If Obama behaved in a stereotypically negative black fashion (strong accent, stupid dress, etc), it would be socially acceptable to criticize him using racial codewords like "urban" or "ghetto".

I don’t wish to do that, but certainly Obama is "black enough" to attract some slurs.

I would prefer if the open minded diversity loving liberals would stop the age discrimination.

If John McCain could stay awake during the State of the Union Address, I might think differently. Not to mention that McCain can’t mentally grasp something as simple as e-mail, he can’t remember what he has talked about earlier, he can’t remember how he’s voted on certain bills, he has very poor health, and he gets crabby whenever confronted about a certain topic by his opponents. If he was more like Reagan, I wouldn’t have a problem so much with his age, but I think he just hasn’t taken care of himself mentally and physically over the years, which doesn’t help considering that he was a P.O.W.

Age doesn’t always matter as there are those who age well and those who don’t age well. From what I have seen, McCain has aged terribly. Ron Paul is somebody that has aged well, but the Republicans don’t seem to like intelligent people as of late.
A California Judge ruled that people can get certain benefits if they are old because everyone has an opportunity to be old. (senior communities, senior discounts)

By making that ruling, it basically created a doublestandard. In my opinion, that ruling allows us to discriminate against people because of their age.
