Stereotypes generally form from frequent observations. So while I always do my best to avoid them, yes…there is often truth burried somewhere in many stereotypes.

That said, he wasn’t stereotyping. He was stating an actual observation. I can’t think of a single Dunkin Donuts or 7/11 in New Castle, and the Newark/Hockessin area that isn’t owned by an Indian-American family. That’s not because I think that Indians are only good for working in 7/11s, but because I’ve been to them and seen they are owned by Indian-Americans.

I even tried that today in the Palin thread, that I was laughing more at the OT republicans about the Palin incident than at her or her daughter (who I think shouldn’t be dragged into this mess), but I guess arguing with Republicans for like five hours straight caught up to me. Thanks for setting me straight though. You are a smart and fair man, and I mean that.

I know where you’re coming from with frustration in trying to be fair on OT, and I know for certain there are many who will say I am not fair…. and there are times I probably haven’t been. It can often be tempting to strap on your party’s jersey and see which side can yell louder. Since the 06 elections at least, I have done my best in moving to posting only in ideological political threads and to avoid the "story of the week" personal threads.

I’ve generally resigned myself to understanding that the majority of posters in threads like these are part of the see who can yell louder crew and are impervious to anything I could say. I do prefer more ideological level political threads, but have not posted in DIACF more than a handful of times since 02… mainly because the partisan hacks who post in there are no better than the story of the week crew. Don’t know where I’m going with this, but it is good to see that there are people who can see past the usual headline news, even if they lose sight of it from time to time.
