"Joe the Plumber"

October 31, 2008

Thought this was fairly interesting.

Oh, Joe, Say It Ain’t So
Joe the Plumber is not registered to vote

He is not a registered plumber in the state of OH Last name: Wurzelbacher

He is a relative of Charles Keating

Here’s an interview he did with Katie Couric at: CBS News
COURIC: Could you just, Joe, explain quickly, and then we’ll let you go, how you met both of the candidates?

WURZELBACHER: I’ve yet to meet John McCain. Obama came to my neighborhood and my son and I were outside tossing the football, and all of a sudden he showed up, and there went our football tossing for a while. And, you know, neighbors were outside asking him questions, and I didn’t think they were asking him tough enough questions, so I thought, you know, I’ll go over there. You know, I’ve always wanted to ask one of these guys a question and really corner them and get them to answer a question of–for once instead of tap dancing around it. And unfortunately I asked the question but I still got a tap dance. Do you - almost as good as Sammy Davis Jr.

lol if true.. not registered to vote is funny since apparently half of last night debate was talking directly to him - "joe, if you’re out there"
so obama shows up at this guys house so joe asked him a question, but his voting status and relatives (if that’s true) are significant?

it’s not like he went looking for obama.

btw, use that site and the information you gave and prove to me he’s not a plumber.

How is Joe’s personal life any business of ours? The liberal media goes on a tear to try and discredit a guy who asked a simple question and got a socialist answer.
This makes me scared to ever ask a democrat a question. They might dig up that I once shit my pants in public.

whoops shit now its out there.

It hasn’t even been a full 24 hours since the debate so I’m not saying any of this is true. I’m sure the truth will eventually come out and we’ll see. So far it’s not looking to good for Joe.. plumber or not.

Well because he kept getting brought up by McCain in the debate. I didn’t count myself but MSNBC claimed he said "joe the Plumber" 20 times.

Minus whale look into it…

Uhh…..

The site linked clearly shows there are ONLY 2 registered Wurzelbacher’s: Lawrence and Renee.

Socialists….

it’s not.

that was my point.

if this guy had gone on a tear and hunted down obama so he could ask him some tough questions then I could almost see trying to figure out the guy’s motivation. but obama basically showed up on his doorstep so he decided to ask a question relevant to him.

Thought this was fairly interesting.

Oh, Joe, Say It Ain’t So
Joe the Plumber is not registered to vote

The database is down, I just tried to look myself up, as well as other people who I KNOW are registered to vote. And it isn’t just people who "have access" it is public record

He is a relative of Charles Keating

Cincinnati is about 250 miles from Toledo, where registered voter Samuel J. Wurzelbacher lives, in the neighborhood that Obama was visiting.

and my point was it’s impossible to use that site and the information given to prove he’s not a plumber.
Licensing

Mr. Wurzelbacher told reporters Thursday morning that he worked for Newell Plumbing & Heating Co., a small local firm whose business addresses flow back to several residential homes, including one on Talmadge Road in Ottawa Hills.

According to Lucas County Building Inspection records, A. W. Newell Corp. does maintain a state plumbing license, and one with the City of Toledo, but would not be allowed to work in Lucas County outside of Toledo without a county license.

Mr. Wurzelbacher said he works under Al Newell’s license, but according to Ohio building regulations, he must maintain his own license to do plumbing work.

He is also not registered to operate as a plumber in Ohio, which means he’s not a plumber.

Mr. Wurzelbacher said he was hired by Mr. Newell six years ago and that the possibility of him eventually buying the company was discussed during his job interview.

He said it’s his understanding he can work under Mr. Newell’s license as long as the licensed contractor works on the same site.

Mr. Wurzelbacher said he is working on taking the Ohio plumbing contractors’ license test.

Also, from the same article

Linda Howe, executive director of the Lucas County Board of Elections, said a Samuel Joseph Worzelbacher, whose address and age match Joe the Plumber’s, registered in Lucas County on Sept. 10, 1992. He voted in his first primary on March 4 of this year, registering as a Republican.

Wrong. And I just posted above that he was not listed.

And the guy that 1979TA references above does show up on the database in that site. Alan W. Newell is registered:
ID#32957 ACTIVE 06/30/2009 "A W NEWELL CORP" TOLEDO OH 43606 Lucas

Joe the Plumber said Thursday he doesn’t have a license and doesn’t need one. …… said he works for a small plumbing company that does residential work. Because he works for someone else, he doesn’t need a license, he said.

Their law says he’s not required to have a license. He’s a plumber.
All the rumors about him being a plant, not registered, related to a Keating member are all bogus.

I think he is just some blue collar worker who somehow thinks he will be able to afford a business that nets $250k.

His house is only worth like $117,00, so he doesn’t even have the collateral to buy the business.

That’s nice. The claim is that he’s NOT A REGISTERED PLUMBER. And that claim is true.

again, their law says he doesn’t need to be registered so the original statement is stupid to begin with.

Heh… if true about his assets, then ironically, he is in the exact situation that Obama described where Obama’s policies would help reach the point of being able to buy the plant.

Funny thing is that your source quotes JOE, himself, as the source of the commentarty on the legalities. So…. we’re getting legal advice from the plumber himself, now?

Because he works for someone else, he doesn’t need a license, said.

1979TA already posted differently, FYI.

I guess you also closed the case on Troopergate when Palin cleared herself of all charges.
He probably isn’t a plumber, he probably does rough in work making $15/hour or something and calls himself a plumber.

Plus I am pretty sure you only need to be licensed to do finish plumbing

If people REALLY want to know the answer to this, I can ask my cousin who is a Union Plumber in the state of Ohio.
Meh …. it’s kinda bad that the media has exposed him to potential legal troubles. He’s just a regular Joe.

But, his attention whoring is pretty fucked up too. Definitely didn’t warrant the media outing him on the registration issue, though.

The licensed plumber thing?

Why is that bad? I don’t know what he may have done wrong but if the media exposes this… well he had it coming to him.
Who gives a fuck? One of the most important elections ever and people are arguing about some fucking plumber.

Did you not watch the debate? This guy got brought up by McCain throughout the entire night.
