Do you truly think that China is better then the United States?
What he said is pretty much on the mark, except for the part about companies wanting to move there instead of the US.
China is investing a ton on infrastructure and the US is barley keeping it aging infrastructure up. It makes new investment and expansion into China very attractive.
Not sure why anyone would think there is something wrong with what he said.
I think China is a better place to invest your money than the U.S. currently, yes.
And why do you think that is exactly?
China’s economy is growing much more rapidly than that of the U.S. currently.
I don’t think he was intimating that China is better than the US. It is more of a "look what China is currently doing. WE can do that and we MUST do that to prosper economically." type of comment. It is a fair assessment (except for the part about businesses moving to China instead of the US) of what is needed for any country to stay economically competitive and to grow.
why do you hate america so much?
You don’t belong in this thread then, Comrade.
Dramatic inflation should happen to the US Dollar in about 2 years. It is best not to have your money in the US when it happens.
Currently we are on a small wave of deflation. At the moment, it is best to invest in the dollar. In 1 year, I would probably switch to foreign investments. I dont know when the inflation will exactly happen.
When the inflation happens, gas prices will sharply increase. All of your savings will shrink.
But even saying that China is comparable to the U.S. in terms of prosperity is wrong. The living conditions in China for example is horrendous. There are hundreds of millions of Chinese living in the countryside without regular access to utilities, education, or clean water and about half of the Chinese have malnutrition and no education.
Rush pointed out that Obama is only viewing this from the eye candy that China has created for the Olympics.
God I should have realized before I made this thread what most of the posts would be, there is no point in wasting my time explaining this.

I guess to each their own, but i personally believe (and as everyone here can tell you, i’m pretty hard on Obama) what he said was correct. Infrastructure is an important part of any countries economy. The US’s infrastructure is aging while China’s is brand new and still expanding. It really has nothing to do with standard of living between the two countries and everything to do with China positioning itself for continued economic expansion in the future, while the US isn’t.
There are a ton of exterior factors, like the ease with which China can confiscate property and do anything it wants with it, etc. But is we are talking about the continued dominance of the US economy, infrastructures is an important part of that and we aren’t keeping it up, much less expanding it and revitalizing it.
Criticizing Obama in here doesn’t go over well in general. Using Rush, mentioning Rush, thinking of Rush or even knowing his name AND criticizing Obama is an instant death sentence.

that quote you gave has zero to do with the living conditions of the chineese people, the majority of which is shitty i agree.
it has everything to do with their infastructure and ability to attract companys and buisnesses to set up things like manufactureing plants there. add in the dirt cheap labor and like i said, i see his point.
you are right about the olympics being eye candy and a sham though.
are you 5?
He listens to Rush. Take a guess.
90%? rofl
Roosevelt did it.
Eisenhower did it.
Reagan, Clinton, and Bush skipped it.
One reason is that it had a lot of room to grow. It’s not exactly first world yet.
Hey lets take a lot of tax money and spend it on infrastructure so the big companies can get rich while the tax payer gets screwed over! Broken Windows Fallacy all over it.
China has done a lot for the wealthy cities, while ignoring the plight of the majority of its citizens.
i stopped read at "rush"
do you have a credible source on something to post?
He’s right.. but his point was about spending and infrastructure.. not about living conditions and human rights.
Seems like people get so pussyhurt as soon as someone says america isn’t #1
That’s the beautiful thing about infrastructure. It’s there for anybody and everybody.

They shouldnt be commended for anything until they start to help their own people.
Then again, if you dont mind most of your population living in poverty, then I guess it is ok to give them a big thumbs up.
* McCain criticized TV preacher Jerry Falwell as “an agent of intolerance” in 2002, but has since decided to who said Americans “deserved” the 9/11 attacks. (Indeed, McCain has now Falwell’s debate coach.)

* And now he’s both for and against Roe v. Wade.
It’s not exactly a newsflash that McCain is veering ridiculously in a rather shameless attempt to reinvent himself, but Dems should take advantage of the situation and help establish the narrative now. Despite his rather embarrassing record of late, we still have major media figures that “no one would accuse McCain of equivocating on anything.”
Now is the time to begin characterizing McCain — accurately — as a man with no principle beliefs. Dems should not only criticize McCain’s constantly evolving opinions on nearly everything, they should openly mock him for it now, so that the storyline becomes second nature (like the GOP did with “serial exaggerator” Al Gore).
How does that relate to this thread?

Wrong thread?
Seriously? McCain hired Falwell’s debate coach?
What is the problem here? Everything he said was 100%, so I’m failing to see how this is bad?
Just kneejerk "he said a different country i better than the US at something". Obama is completely right on this one.

The infrastructure *IS* helping their own people though.
It attracts business and even more investment, which gives people jobs, which gives them money and better living conditions.
He didn’t give a universal thumbs up - he just said their infrastructure is excellent, which it is!
We’re good at a lot of things, but what he said was right. I don’t know why the TS is bitter. It’s like he said, "you know, Germany has a fantastic highway network.". And? It’s the best in the world, autobahn exclusive.

It is investing in the infrastructure of a very small percentage of the country. The area of the country that is the least communist. The part of the country that outsiders like you see. 99% of the country is neglected.
Their infrastructure is only excellent in 1-2% of the country. Yes, he was technically right, but should never have brought it up.

This post is 98.5% bullshit.
Obama should be against it because it is creating co2 which leads to climate change, shame on him.
you are 99.9% bullshit.
