So …. questioning Palin’s responsibilities to her family

September 17, 2008

She doesn’t have any. There is currently a controversy in Alaska where is trying to fire a cop for tazering her step-son. Oh yeah small detail, the step-son actually asked the cop to do it to see what it feels like.

link?
doesn’t matter cause i think it matter’s as much as it would for a male candidate

job of a VP is to wake up, check to see if the Pres is alive, then go get breakfast.

Occasionally wave, do parades, welcome visiting dignitaries, etc…

fixed

the kid was 10.

Yeah… but which candidate have ever run a campaign with a newborn child in their family?

fine how about this?

Why Walt Monegan got fired: Palin’s abuse of power

Last Friday, Commissioner of Public Safety Walt Monegan went into a meeting with Governor Sarah Palin’s acting chief of staff thinking he was going to be discussing security for the governor’s picnic. He left the meeting without a job.
The abrupt firing of Walt Monegan was a shock not only to him but all of the men and women of the Department of Public Safety. The way Monegan was fired raises serious questions about the governor’s true motives.
So why was Walt Monegan fired out of the blue? Why would Governor Palin send a surrogate to fire her Public Safety Commissioner and then not have a decent explanation for the public? And why would Monegan’s replacement be telling people three days before Monegan got fired, that he was going to become the new Commissioner of Public Safety?
Walt Monegan got fired for all of the wrong reasons. Walt Monegan got fired because he had the audacity to tell Governor Palin no, when apparently nobody is allowed to say no to Governor Palin.
Monegan said no, he couldn’t cut his budget because his State Troopers were already being stretched to the limit and public safety suffering. He said no, he couldn’t cut his budget because fuel costs for planes, boats and patrol vehicles soaring, while crime in rural Alaska was putting more demands on the Troopers transportation system.

But more alarming than any budget battle, Monegan said no to firing a State Trooper who had divorced Governor Palin’s sister because the guy was being maliciously hounded by Palin’s family.
And not just that; Monegan’s firing came after his Colonel had to reprimand the governor’s office for meddling in department personnel affairs.

fine how about this?

and there are other links alleging the cop was drinking on duty among 20-30 other complaints. If that was true, and his boss (Monegan) wouldn’t fire him, the boss should be removed from office.
IB McCain/Palin get 35% of Hillaries supporters, up from the 25% who were switching before Palin was announced.

Women are emotional, they vote on emotions, so they will connect with any female. Especially one with five kids, including one with down syndrome.

Yeah right, a pro-choice woman is going to pick for a pro-life ticket simply because they have a pretty bimbo on the ticket. This is the second time McCain picked someone simply because of how they look. First he cheated on his wife and then divorced her for Cindy McCain, and now instead of picking Romney(someone who has economy experience coming out of his ass) for a beauty queen.

Ya that sounds fishy.

its not like she’s raising the kid alone. she’s got a husband and other kids who can and I’m sure do help raise the newborn. so I don’t see how it would handicap her (pardon the poor choice of words) in running for office

it would handicap her because most women take time off work to raise their kids, not the other way around.

Occasionally wave, do parades, welcome visiting dignitaries, etc…

be the dick the pres cannot, make a pariah out himself, tell members of congress to go fuck themselves, have closed-door energy meetings, shoot people in the face

oh wait that’s just Chenney

well she didn’t isn’t. if she wanted to take time off she wouldn’t have accepted.

hell, she was back to being governing Alaska 3 days after she popped the kid out

hell, she was back to being governing Alaska 3 days after she popped the kid out

which just reinforces the view that republicans only care about the kids only when they are in the womb and after they are out they could give 2 shits about them

In her case, she took a whole whopping 4 days off after she gave birth, and then went back to work.

"take time off"

6 weeks paid? 10 with some unpaid? 12 on FMLA with all of it unpaid?

why is whether she took time off, or has a baby, anyone’s concern but her’s and her husband’s?

It still boils down to a question of whether her obligations as a mother to a newborn might interfere with a job of being VP, or at the other end, whether being a VP would interfere with her obligations to her newborn.

I’m not sure how this is supposed to be so strange to question the combination of both.

I guarantee if someone came in here and said that women should be back at work within a week, they would be run out on a rail
She’s either a shite mother, or will be too distracted.

Pick your poison.

Those are the possible extremes. 7960 has been ranting at me as if those don’t exist.

Ever see the pictures of the Kennedy children hiding under daddy’s desk in the White House?
I heard that she is a Muslim and that she was behind the 9/11 conspiracy.

Good point. Looks like that pregnancy [child born November] occured after he started campaigning [announced in January], so it’s not quite the same. But, still a good reference.

as opposed to any other male candidates obligations as a father? and before you bring up the fact no male candidate has run with a newborn, all kids need attention, not just newborns, and there have been young kids of sitting presidents

"all kids need attention" so that makes it exactly the same for someone with a newborn, and invalidates my questions?

caroline was like 1 1/2 during the campaign IIRC

not saying its invalid, just not very important for points raised here already

….and I would’ve questioned Kennedy’s ability to split commitments effectively just the same.

It’s not like I’m raising this because she’s a woman. Hell, I’ve questioned my OWN ability to split commitments after I got laid off during the pregnancy of my first child. At one point, I was working two full time jobs, and eventually gave one up because I barely saw my family.

And THAT is a perfectly legitimate stance. I respect whatever stance you take on it.

Some people *cough*7960*cough* act as if it is blasphemous idiocy to raise this question.
