That is, did he ever actually say it was really a bad thing? Everything I ever heard from him simply said it was a distraction and wouldn’t help our problems with foreign oil and gas prices. (Which he still says).
I might be wrong though, it’s not an issue I’ve followed closely.

Obama is pressed on the issue repeatedly on the campaign trail, but he refuses to budge, preferring to take pains to spell out his reasons. Bush Regime ignored evidence Iraq had no WMD

Ex-CIA official: WMD evidence ignored (CNN) — A retired CIA official has accused the Bush administration of ignoring intelligence indicating that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction and no active nuclear program before the United States-led coalition invaded it, CBS News said Sunday.
Drumheller said that, before the U.S.-led attack on Iraq in 2003, the White House “ignored crucial information” from Iraq’s foreign minister, Naji Sabri, that indicated Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction. Drumheller said that, when then-CIA Director George Tenet told President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and other high-ranking officials that Sabri was providing information, his comments were met with excitement that proved short-lived. “[The source] told us that there were no active weapons of mass destruction programs,” Drumheller is quoted as saying. “The [White House] group that was dealing with preparation for the Iraq war came back and said they were no longer interested. And we said ‘Well, what about the intel?’ And they said ‘Well, this isn’t about intel anymore. This is about regime change.’ “ Drumheller said the administration officials wanted no more information from Sabri because: “The policy was set. The war in Iraq was coming, and they were looking for intelligence to fit into the policy.” CBS said the White House declined to respond to the charge and that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has said Sabri was just one source and therefore not reliable. Candidates stance on NASA Obama: Reduce budget spend money on schools Oil vs. renewable energy analogy

Oil is like the road system we have, that may have some potholes and ruts, but with some capital investment, we can improve them and they will serve our needs for now and the future. "Renewable Energy" is like Lyle Lanley selling the monorail system to the people of springfield. a lot of money invested in unknown technology that may or may not work or may or may not be better than what we already have/could have invested in. I find when people make analogies in an argument it’s because they want to obscure the facts. iraq clearly at some point had WMD

how can people think that saddam didn’t have at least chemical and biological weapons? He used them on many occasions… against Iran, shiites, and kurds. There’s a reason the UN:SC unanimously voted to force Saddam to comply with weapons inspectors or face military action. There’s a reason Saddam did not cooperate and refused to show where any of his weapons were dismantled. Obama now favors drilling on the coastline

Sen. said Saturday he is simply acting pragmatically in softening his opposition to additional oil drilling along the nation’s coastline, a shift Republicans say shows he is calculating and out of touch with voters. Speaking in Florida, Obama insisted he still generally opposes additional drilling as his Republican rival, Sen. John McCain, once did as well but would be willing to support it as part of a new bipartisan energy proposal that seeks to lessen dependence on foreign oil. “If we can come up with a genuine bipartisan compromise, in which I have to accept some things that I don’t like, or the Democrats have to accept some things that they don’t like in exchange for actually moving us in the direction of actual energy independence, then that’s something I’m open to,” the Illinois Democrat said. Oil drilling, a hot topic in Florida, has been a point of dispute between Obama and McCain in recent weeks. “Sen. Obama says he wants energy independence, but he doesn’t support anything that serves that goal,” McCain said Saturday in his weekly radio address. “He believes every domestic energy source has a problem. I believe every energy source needs to be part of the solution.” Continue reading… |
