NOLA levees failing

Posted by bruni on September 20, 2008

At least according to what I”m hearing on CNN & FOX… what a shame, at least most people seem to have been effectively evacuated this time.
I’m hearing breached.

Big difference than "failing".
yea the water is just getting high, thats not exactly failing
They did just make the point that the water will be this high for hours more.

Hope they hold. We just did a benefit at my venue for New Orleans during the DNC. All these legendary New Orleans Jazz and Blues heavy hitters (Don Harrison, Walter Wolfman Washington, Randy Newman playing for hours).

I am my brother’s keeper…That’s the change we need…"

Posted by bruni on September 09, 2008

That’s the promise of America, the idea that we are responsible for ourselves, but that we also rise or fall as one nation, the fundamental belief that I am my brother’s keeper, I am my sister’s keeper. That’s the promise we need to keep. That’s the change we need right now.

Does this sound like a contradiction?

Obama supporters are praying Colin Powell will endorse their candidate

Posted by bruni on September 03, 2008

CNN reported today that Colin Powell has denied that he will endorse Obama and says that he won’t go to thier convention. The reporter at Fox News, who broke the story, is continuing to say Powell will continue to ostensibly support Obama.

It seems to me that certain Obama supporters are begging for Powell’s endorsement.

he’s a well respected military general, who wouldn’t want his opinion?

GOP remains in Congress despite the Democrats adjournment for vacation

Posted by bruni on August 26, 2008

A bit long but worth reading

Pelosi and the dems won’t let off-shore drilling up for a vote even when 70%+ of Americans are demanding it. Plus, she doesn’t want to force a vote on Obama because she knows it could be political suicide for him. House Dems turn out the lights but GOP keeps talking.

"Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and the Democrats adjourned the House and turned off the lights and killed the microphones, but Republicans are still on the floor talking gas prices.

China allows you to ‘replace’ your kid that was killed in the quake.

Posted by bruni on August 24, 2008

My God. China is so evil. That government is so bad. I can’t believe how people have sold there souls to the Chinese government.

I mean, what a great bunch of guys. They build the schools so substandard that they fall down in a quake where other shacks are left standing.
Then the government gives you permission to replace your lost valuables (under there one child policy) that you lost in the quake.

That is so fucking wrong.
But I think it paints a pretty accurate picture of how the Chinese government views there citizens. There citizens are commodities. Nothing else.

Bush Regime ignored evidence Iraq had no WMD

Ex-CIA official: WMD evidence ignored
‘60 Minutes’ report: White House disregarded good intelligence

(CNN) — A retired CIA official has accused the Bush administration of ignoring intelligence indicating that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction and no active nuclear program before the United States-led coalition invaded it, CBS News said Sunday.

Tyler Drumheller, the former highest-ranking CIA officer in Europe, told “60 Minutes” that the administration “chose to ignore” good intelligence, the network said in a posting on its Web site.

Drumheller said that, before the U.S.-led attack on Iraq in 2003, the White House “ignored crucial information” from Iraq’s foreign minister, Naji Sabri, that indicated Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction.

Drumheller said that, when then-CIA Director George Tenet told President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and other high-ranking officials that Sabri was providing information, his comments were met with excitement that proved short-lived.

“[The source] told us that there were no active weapons of mass destruction programs,” Drumheller is quoted as saying. “The [White House] group that was dealing with preparation for the Iraq war came back and said they were no longer interested. And we said ‘Well, what about the intel?’ And they said ‘Well, this isn’t about intel anymore. This is about regime change.’ “

Drumheller said the administration officials wanted no more information from Sabri because: “The policy was set. The war in Iraq was coming, and they were looking for intelligence to fit into the policy.”

CBS said the White House declined to respond to the charge and that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has said Sabri was just one source and therefore not reliable. Continue reading…
