Any other Canadian find our politics in parliament immature and embarrassing?

Posted by bruni on October 05, 2008

On the rare few channels that I have, I’ve scanned accross CPAC a few times. Fuck, do they ever sound immature, unproffessional and whiney.
As I Canadian I find it embarassing.

Aside:
We need two tier voting as well.

Ron Paul Plans ‘Special Announcement’

Posted by bruni on September 28, 2008

Rep. Ron Paul, the former Republican presidential candidate who excited a multitude of young voters during the primaries, announced a “major” news conference in Washington Wednesday.

With a range of third-party candidates at his side – including the Libertarian Party’s Bob Barr, independent candidate Ralph Nader, the Constitution Party’s Chuck Baldwin and the Green Party’s Cynthia McKinney – it’s unlikely that Paul will pick just one to support. But his spokesman said to expect “something of an endorsement,” with “a real effect on this fall’s election.”

Obama’s tax plan at it’s core is about "Neighborliness"

Posted by bruni on September 26, 2008

"If I am sitting pretty, and you’ve got a waitress who is making minimum wage plus tips, and I can afford it and she can’t — what’s the big deal for me to say, ‘I’m going to pay a little bit more.’ That is neighborliness."

Is this guy for real, is his tax policy straight out of the communist manifesto?

"From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs"

What would life be like in an ObamaNation? There’s the government sitting there watching you – watching you work – watching you go the extra mile. The government takes note of the fact that you pursued an advanced education. Then the government observes you working 50, 60 maybe 80 hours a week trying to start a business. The government watches your income as it rises. Finally at some point the government says "Enough! You now have more than you need! There are people out there who did not pursue an education like you did. There are people out there who did not work as hard and as long as you did. There are people out there who did not make the careful choices and take the risks you did. Now you have to be a good neighbor. So we’re going to take some of that money you don’t need and ’spread the wealth’, so to speak."

Voting for the McCain/Palin ticket? Justify it.

Posted by bruni on September 24, 2008

The way I see it, McCain has had multiple cancerous growths removed in the past. He is 72 years old, and (by no fault of his own) has had a lot of wear on him in his lifetime. With the added stress of the Whitehouse, it isn’t hard to say that there is about a 5-10% chance he could pass in the next 4 years.

So, if McCain passes (which would be unfortunate, but possible) then Palin is the President of the United States. Can you really imagine this woman filling this role? With no foreign experience to speak of, and very little familiarity with many issues of law?

Fabled Enemies: A New Film By Loose Change Filmmaker Jason Bermas

Seven years after 9/11, the supposed mastermind behind the attacks is still at large, and the nation is entrenched in multiple wars in the Middle East.

Is Bin Laden the evil behind the attack or a mere front man in a larger picture: a Bogeyman?

We are told we are fighting a War on Terror, and that the Terrorists hate us for our freedom. If that is the case, why do our leaders take more and more of those freedoms away every day?

Well That Biden Choice Sure Worked Out Well For Obamma…

Posted by bruni on September 07, 2008

Ok, well not exactly:

"An by Gallup Poll Managing Editor Jeff Jones shows that recent presidential campaigns have enjoyed a small (though short-lived) bounce from the running mate announcement. This includes a four percentage point bounce for John Kerry in 2004 after selecting John Edwards, a 5-point bounce for Al Gore in 2000 with his announcement of Joe Lieberman, and a 3-point bounce for George W. Bush in 2000 upon choosing Dick Cheney. Bob Dole received an extraordinary 9-point bounce in 1996 after bringing Jack Kemp onto his ticket."

Bush: I don’t see America having problems.

Obviously he doesn’t understand how to use a mirror.
do you really consider China and the United States morally equivalents?

Not at all, but this thread isn’t about comparing us with China. It’s about the Neighborhood of Makebelieve that our current Decider lives in.

Barack Obama’s energy policy STINKS!

Posted by bruni on September 01, 2008

Absolutely no new drilling (even though EVERY other country in the world does it).
No new nuclear plants.
His answer to high gas prices is windfall profits tax. Whatever the fuck that is…sounds like something that will just result in higher prices at the pump.

….and now his most brilliant new solution to the energy problems yet!
