Why is it that you love oil so much and want to push so hard to bring in more oil? I don’t see you pushing for alternative energy research and merely state "nuclear is the answer" when it’s plainly clear that it isn’t. So what are you planning on doing when you’ve been pushing oil so hard and it turns out that we won’t have a drop of oil for 10-15 years?
If we’d stop subsidizing damn corn and ethanol so much, maybe alternative energy would move a little faster. Then food prices would start going down and the price of a pizza will be back to normal

A bit long but worth reading

Pelosi and the dems won’t let off-shore drilling up for a vote even when 70%+ of Americans are demanding it. Plus, she doesn’t want to force a vote on Obama because she knows it could be political suicide for him. House Dems turn out the lights but GOP keeps talking.

My God. China is so evil. That government is so bad. I can’t believe how people have sold there souls to the Chinese government.

I mean, what a great bunch of guys. They build the schools so substandard that they fall down in a quake where other shacks are left standing.
Then the government gives you permission to replace your lost valuables (under there one child policy) that you lost in the quake.

That is so fucking wrong.
But I think it paints a pretty accurate picture of how the Chinese government views there citizens. There citizens are commodities. Nothing else.

If the first two are accurate, then Obama can’t “ruin” the economy. If he can, then clearly Obama has the opportunity to be just as successful.

we have troops there now, and would love to set up bases there along with other nations.

so, what does the US do? send troops? get out? mediate talks?

Speaking to donors at a San Diego fund-raiser last month, Barack Obama reassured the crowd that he wouldn’t give in to Republican tactics to throw his candidacy off track.

“Listen, I’m skinny but I’m tough,” Sen. Obama said.

But in a nation in which 66% of the voting-age population is overweight and 32% is obese, could Sen. Obama’s skinniness be a liability? Despite his visits to waffle houses, ice-cream parlors and greasy-spoon diners around the country, his slim physique just might have some Americans wondering whether he is truly like them.

The candidate has been criticized by opponents for appearing elitist or out of touch with average Americans. A Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll conducted in July shows Sen. Obama still lags behind Republican John McCain among white men and suburban women who say they can’t relate to his background or perceived values.

“He’s too new … and he needs to put some meat on his bones,” says Diana Koenig, 42, a housewife in Corpus Christi, Texas, who says she voted for Sen. Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary.

Oil is like the road system we have, that may have some potholes and ruts, but with some capital investment, we can improve them and they will serve our needs for now and the future.

"Renewable Energy" is like Lyle Lanley selling the monorail system to the people of springfield. a lot of money invested in unknown technology that may or may not work or may or may not be better than what we already have/could have invested in.

I find when people make analogies in an argument it’s because they want to obscure the facts.
