Asked whether the debate could go forward if McCain doesn’t show, Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs replied, "My sense is there’s going to be a stage, a moderator, an audience and at least one presidential candidate." Continue reading…

and he wishes to postpone the debate in order to work on the economy. He calls for Obama to do the same. thoughts?
NEW YORK - Republican John McCain says he’s directing his staff to work with Barack Obama’s campaign and the debate commission to delay Friday’s debate because of the economic crisis. In a statement, McCain says he will stop campaigning after addressing former President Bill Clinton’s Global Initiative session on Thursday and return to Washington to focus on the nation’s financial problems. Currently, my television is repeatedly sending me the message that "we must act quickly" on the bailout package to avoid "dire consequences."
If it is true that we have come to a "point of no return" where swift action is required immediately, why didn’t these very smart people who are now FULLY AWARE of the crisis facing America notice it sooner and make the general public aware of the impending crisis?
Logic would indicate to me that this plan is being rushed through as quickly as possible in order to avoid Congress making changes to the plan. Continue reading…

While reading threads based upon the political theatre that is the U.S. presidential election on this forum, I keep stumbling upon posts that mention ‘how bad’ the economy is, and this thread is meant to educate ME and perhaps others on the subject of what our trillion dollar debt actually means, and what can the candidates do to fix it.
Stop beating around the bush in other threads, I want to know the situation, and both sides’ solutions. Well right off the bat we all know that trickle down economics does not work. Continue reading…

Palin likes to bring up how Alaska supplies 20% of the US’s domestic production. Oddly enough, she taxes possibly $60 or more into the price of a barrel of oil before sending it down the pipeline to us.
She then gives Alaskans a $3200 rebate check from the oil tax revenues. So, as governor, she basically jacks up the price of oil for the rest of America but cuts Alaskans a break by refunding that money to them. What’s the motto for her husband’s old political party….? Continue reading…

Rep. Ron Paul, the former Republican presidential candidate who excited a multitude of young voters during the primaries, announced a “major” news conference in Washington Wednesday.
With a range of third-party candidates at his side – including the Libertarian Party’s Bob Barr, independent candidate Ralph Nader, the Constitution Party’s Chuck Baldwin and the Green Party’s Cynthia McKinney – it’s unlikely that Paul will pick just one to support. But his spokesman said to expect “something of an endorsement,” with “a real effect on this fall’s election.” Continue reading…

McCain has a 100% approval rating on cutting pork barrel spending in 2007. 88% life time.
Obama has a 10% approval rating on cutting pork barrel spending in 2007. 18% life time.
(does this mean that John McCain votes with the taxpayers 88% of the time? )
Another interesting angle on these two canidates ….at least until he appointed the most pork-gobbling governor in the Union as his VP.
I am comparing McCain to Obama, there is no approval ratings by the CAGW for governors. Continue reading…

"If I am sitting pretty, and you’ve got a waitress who is making minimum wage plus tips, and I can afford it and she can’t — what’s the big deal for me to say, ‘I’m going to pay a little bit more.’ That is neighborliness."
Is this guy for real, is his tax policy straight out of the communist manifesto?
"From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs"
What would life be like in an ObamaNation? There’s the government sitting there watching you – watching you work – watching you go the extra mile. The government takes note of the fact that you pursued an advanced education. Then the government observes you working 50, 60 maybe 80 hours a week trying to start a business. The government watches your income as it rises. Finally at some point the government says "Enough! You now have more than you need! There are people out there who did not pursue an education like you did. There are people out there who did not work as hard and as long as you did. There are people out there who did not make the careful choices and take the risks you did. Now you have to be a good neighbor. So we’re going to take some of that money you don’t need and ’spread the wealth’, so to speak." Continue reading…

why?
what’s good about her?

She’s pro-life.
She’s fiscally conservative.
She’s fairly libertarian on most issues.
Obviously, there isn’t much known about her in detail, but I think she’s the best pick McCain could have done. Continue reading…
