Palin likes to bring up how Alaska supplies 20% of the US’s domestic production. Oddly enough, she taxes possibly $60 or more into the price of a barrel of oil before sending it down the pipeline to us.
She then gives Alaskans a $3200 rebate check from the oil tax revenues. So, as governor, she basically jacks up the price of oil for the rest of America but cuts Alaskans a break by refunding that money to them. What’s the motto for her husband’s old political party….? Continue reading…

Rep. Ron Paul, the former Republican presidential candidate who excited a multitude of young voters during the primaries, announced a “major” news conference in Washington Wednesday.

That’s the promise of America, the idea that we are responsible for ourselves, but that we also rise or fall as one nation, the fundamental belief that I am my brother’s keeper, I am my sister’s keeper. That’s the promise we need to keep. That’s the change we need right now.

Georgia was tricked, but by Russia or US?
Ian Bell on the new cold war
LET’S RUN through this again. Vladimir Putin is not a nice man. The KGB, with whom the young Vlad earned his reputation as a people person, was not Russia’s answer to the Rotary Club. As a direct consequence, Russian traditions of democracy remain wafer thin, a cracked veneer that fails utterly to conceal thuggery, rigged votes, oligarchic mafias, corruption, and the corpses of journalists. Are we clear? Continue reading…

Ok, well not exactly:
"An by Gallup Poll Managing Editor Jeff Jones shows that recent presidential campaigns have enjoyed a small (though short-lived) bounce from the running mate announcement. This includes a four percentage point bounce for John Kerry in 2004 after selecting John Edwards, a 5-point bounce for Al Gore in 2000 with his announcement of Joe Lieberman, and a 3-point bounce for George W. Bush in 2000 upon choosing Dick Cheney. Bob Dole received an extraordinary 9-point bounce in 1996 after bringing Jack Kemp onto his ticket." Continue reading…
