we were blaming the democrats last week so i guess this week we have to thank them
fuck that, go higher so the prices of trucks and suvs drop even more so I can pick up an Infiniti FX45 since paying more for gas > less pricey gas and paying 15k extra for a vehicle
what is your first language?
engerlish
it’s very good news, the further down it goes the better our economy is as a whole.
it would also mean that my predictions of the oil bubble ending towards the end of summer would reign true.
the demand was cut because everyone inflated their tires properly like Obama said, thats whats causing the drop in price.
Thanks democrats
Obama ‘08
you can go get an SUV at nearly 50% off right now. what are you waiting for?
it’s well on it’s way, as long as it breaks the threshold of $99.999/bbl during this crash the oil price will stabilize at $60-80/bbl
lower
you’re an idiot.
yeah, and then china orders 1.8 trillion barrels per day more
werd
what’s the crack spread doing?
fotayinchplusssssss
that’s only 50 or so cents higher than a few months ago.
|
the demand was cut because everyone inflated their tires properly like Obama said, thats whats causing the drop in price.
Thanks democrats Obama ‘08 |
Saw diesel for 4.33 on the NW side of town…
3.54 in Houston!
lol @ people who got scared and sold their SUV’s for shitboxes

Happy for all of the people who took advantage of buying new trucks too!
zomg bush’s lift of the offshore drilling ban really worked
It’s dropped 20% since then.
Just because its down to 115.00 today doesnt mean it can’t spike the fuck back up tomorrow
Even at 3.50 for a gallon of gas, that’s still fucking retardedly expensive as fuck..90 dollars for a 25 gallon tank…
if they sold their SUV for 10G’s and bought an econo car for 10G’s…they’re probably saving 2-300 hundred a month
they’re also conserving more energy at teh same time.
nothing wrong with that.
my gf’s dad bought an 01 civic for like 5000 dollars. He had a f250 and he said he was paying 200 a week on diesel.
chopper dave, chopper dave, chopper dave…
we have uh-oh!
fuck i miss sealab
I’m not getting excited until it gets near $2/gallon. Prices are still fucking crazy.
correlation != causation
the real reason is that we sent a diplomat to iran. things have eased a bit with all that and prices are dropping.
war with iran = $200/bbl easily

Eased?
There are new sanctions against Iran and the talk about Israel striking them goes up everyday.

Except for the whole driving around in a faggot car thing.
|
Eased?

The mere fact that we sent a high-ranking diplomat to Iran for the first time in like 30 years means a lot, especially since we had all this tension back and forth between us and them.
i’m not insecure, so my penis stays the same size no matter what car i’m driving.

*shkkk* Roger the Uh-oh
China and its Olympic "clean air" policies had nothing to do with it either…

the dollar rose to a 5 month high today. oil is traded in dollars, as the dollar becomes more valuable it takes less to buy oil.
i guess none of you fuckers know what the crack spread’s doing…
It means diddly shit, and even then you are just proving the point that the rise in oil is due to speculation.
like i said, gas prices arn’t falling anytime soon (to reasonable levels anyway)
They’ve dropped 50 cents in 2 weeks.
gas prices have dropped nearly 50 cents per callon here.
Did you cuss him out for contributing to their rise?
Mine too. But I still wouldn’t want to inconvenience myself by driving around in a shitbox car when I could have the SUV and ride in style and comfort.
No I am thanking him on behalf of all those people that did.
Of course it’s speculation you dumbfuck.
All I’m saying is the speculators aren’t "scared" by Bush lifting the offshore ban because they anticipated it for a long time. On top of that, Congress has to lift the ban too, and that probably won’t happen until there’s a Republican majority.
The mere fact that you are comparing the physical size of a car to style and comfort means you’re just an ignorant person.
that’s alomst enough to be significant comapred to the past 2 years of rise
gas is 10 cents away from being 3.xx at some places here while it was 4.50ish a month ago.
3.89 here

"Meanwhile, efficiency experts say that keeping tires inflated can improve gas mileage 3%, "
Where does the 3% come from? Tires that are at say 75% recommended pressure. What about the tires that are at 90% recommended pressure? What percentage of people have under-inflated tires? Are we assuming that 100% of the population is driving around on under-inflated tires?
Vague stats FTL
Maybe by you. I’ve only seen a .16 drop.
3.99 for the longest time.
Now 3.83.
Hmm lets see…
This…

you’re a fucking idiot.

what the deuce Utah I paid $4.29 last night for 91
Rising value of the US dollar and easing of inflationary fears have NOTHING to do with why investors are selling oil contracts
|
I can do that too you dumbass..
Hmm…lets see this.. or this.. you’re a fucking idiot. |
hey lets compare the biggest to the smallest cause I is smart
but seriously though I would rather drive an Infiniti FX over a camry, civic, whatever
|

Hmm…lets see this.. or this.. you’re a fucking idiot. |
Don’t get pissy because your vision of an SUV free America is falling apart.
I could give a fuck about an SUV free america…
I just think you’re dumb.
Plus you are comparing a very old SUV to a new Luxury car. At least the two I posted have been made around the same time period.
|
Rising value of the US dollar and easing of inflationary fears have NOTHING to do with why investors are selling oil contracts
|
you’re stupid, the price drop happened because Obama went to germany and spoke with diplomats.
|

We’re not that good yet. All it’ll take is another big round of job cuts or something to send us back down the tubes.
You might be the stupidest person I have ever encountered, GMAC
i’m gonna spam the fuck outta
| the crack spread |
Wages have stayed in check, ECB held rates, Fed is talking tough on inflation.
All contribute to falling oil.
How do people like you even function
Are you one of the morons that was jerking off to the idea of high gas prices and the end of SUVs?
Sorry to upset you but it ain’t going to happen.
if you haven’t checked, the democrats are on vacation, while the republicans are still in session demanding action
I had 4.399 in Dickinson. Whee.
pretty well actually, i hold down a good job, pay my bills on time, fuck my gf, and come on OT to spread the voice of truth.
|
Are you one of the morons that was jerking off to the idea of high gas prices and the end of SUVs? Sorry to upset you but it ain’t going to happen. |
You’re a twat as well for assuming, maybe he just hates all the soccer moms driving around in giant suvs while talking on cellphones.
yes gas went up today at our pumps. why would it be that it goes up on a FRIDAY? price gouge for the entire weekend perhaps?…
|
i’m gonna spam the fuck outta

Looked it up on wiki and I don’t really get it. Basically it’s about profiting from the price difference between crude and refined oil?
|
Are you one of the morons that was jerking off to the idea of high gas prices and the end of SUVs? Sorry to upset you but it ain’t going to happen. |
yes, because SUV’s haven’t dropped 50% in their value from car dealerships because not one single person is buying them.
And the used market hasn’t become completely stagnant either, right?
Everyone is buying SUV’s!!!!!
Oh wait, I forgot, no one is
|

The problem is that people are stupid. As soon as gas dips below $3.50/gal, everyone’s going to declare victory over gas prices and buy SUVs like they were 10 years ago.
Oh well. Looks like he is just going to have to live with it.
Maybe A_C_E will sacrifice a tofu sandwich or something and pray to his God Al Gore and ask him to make the price of oil go up again.
yeah, basically it’s the cost to refine crude oil into a useable product like gas.
so gas price = crack spread + cost of crude oil.
so if the crack spread is increasing more than oil is decreasing — gas prices could still go up.
|

I would imagine that crack spread stays constant for long periods of time, with decreases now and then due to technological improvements.
Or I don’t give a shit what people drive?
If they want to fuck themselves by driving vehicles that get 9 mpg, that’s their fucking problem.
|
Or I don’t give a shit what people drive?

Well that was a pretty atypical response from a liberal.
well the crack "spread" is traded…. so it’s like a futures option…. and it can change a significant amount actually. i phrased that wrong about the cost, because you are right the cost is probably the same.
I linked you to the NYMEX page on the crack, perhaps you’d care to read it
Not every democrat is a vegan hippie, you moron
considering that many car manufacturers have completely shut down many SUV plants…I doubt they’re going to start them up anytime soon.
funny thing is gas here went up almost 10 cents a liter probably due to the fact the Canadian dollar is crashing
Not every conservative is a bible thumping sister fucker either.
They will once the demand rises again. That is the beauty of consumerism and capitalism.
.
I’m getting a much better exchange at the casino these days
The demand is never going to be back where it was.
You’re never going to see gas below $2.50/gal ever again
|

id rather pay the extra $150 a month i am compared to last year for the comfort and enjoyment i get from having my truck
lol @ american ignorance in your post.
"yay it went down, lets go buy a hummer H2…"
*2 weeks later*
"what, it went back up? you mean I should’ve taken the previous spike in prices as precaution of what might happen in the future and not take another HELOC to buy a gas guzzling SUV and bury myself in debt to the point of foreclosure?"
just because prices went down, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t expect it to spike up again in the future.
|
The demand is never going to be back where it was.

I"d venture to say $3
so how much will gas go down if oil gets down to 60-80?
|
id rather pay the extra $150 a month i am compared to last year for the comfort and enjoyment i get from having my truck
|
If "comfort" is worth $1800/year in gas to you, well……that’s your problem.
It’ll never get below 80 and stay there.
Never.
Possibly.
I could see a scare sell-off running it down as low as $2.60 or so, but it wouldn’t stay there.
almost every car company is focusing on fuel efficiency, whether for an SUV or small car.
VW is working on a 200+ mpg car, MB has BlueTec, Honda is getting almost 40 out of the Fit, Toyota is putting solar panels on the top of their next-generation Prius, Ford is trying to get the most of their big trucks and SUVs, GM has flex fuel technology and now the EcoBoost motor.
There is no reason to believe that another SUV fad will occur again. Yes, people did knee-jerk but with good reason. If we go back to our previous (ignorant) trends and go back to SUVs and trucks, then our dependency on fuel will rise again and prices will rise again. You don’t have to drive a Vespa scooter or a hybrid to get good gas mileage these days from your vehicle. There are several cars that are attractive and get very good mileage.
naw, gas will settle around $3.25-$3.50 and stay there, which is still…not…bad!
|

and im fine with where gas prices were…are..and will be going,.
its worth it to me because i enjoy owning an SUV. i wouldnt be as comfortable in a econobox, or some bullshit hybrid.
im only paying about 130 more a month than i was last year at this time
not THAT big of a deal
yes it is..you people are making it sound its some outragous amount of cash extra
@ people crying daily about gas prices

oh that’s fine, but i’ve always been more comfortable in a nice rwd sports car with leather interior and a torquey motor. And those don’t always get horrible gas mileage either.
I never saw the allure in huge, oversized, obese vehicles that can’t turn properly.
|

i was more than prepared to pay $6/gal for gas. It’s not that big of a deal unless you drive a hummer.

well dont get me wrong..i intend of gettign a nice RWD sports car in the near future too
to me i like knowing that i will have plenty or room to do whatever i want.
im not really worried about being able to drift etc

well my expy isnt gre4at on gas…but even before i moved less than a mile from work…i was throwing in $90 a week….which is only about $35 more than i was last year.
now that i live closer..ive put gas in once and so far only used 1/4..and thats including driving to my usual fishing spot 2 times

i like an SUV once in a while.
When I had to do a chauffer job, I was given a Tahoe LT and it was fun to drive.
You can? What kind?
Say I wanted to go pick up a ‘09 Denali… Normally they run mid-50’s loaded. I can get them for $27k now?

All this talk about the luxury in your truck that you would have to give up and you drive a fucking expedition
