The Republic you wanted — and at one time might have had the power to take back — is finished. You no longer have the power to keep it; it’s not there. It was kidnapped in December 2000, raped by the primed and ready exploiters of 9/11, whored by the war pimps of the 2003 aggression, gut-knifed by the corrupters of the 2004 vote, and raped again by its "rescuers" after the 2006 election. Beaten, abused, diseased and abandoned, it finally died. We are living in its grave.
I got some Wellbutrin and Prozac here if you want some.
I loved America.
What we have now isn’t what America is supposed to be according to the Constitution, and I hate it.
… you were 8 years old when bush was elected
lulz
and when i was born Ford was in office
Endless war, an increasingly oppressive surveillance state, the evisceration of individual freedom and civil liberties, and ongoing chaos and destruction are all what they want.
None of this is an "error," or a "mistake in judgment," or "good intentions" gone awry. This is what they want.
Never, ever forget it.
OMG U GUIZ IF U PUT UR BROWSER OVER THE WORDS IT TURNS BLUE
I doubt that was ever true.

What do you gain from being a hater?
have you read your posts?
and you call me a hater?

I shared something personal about myself (That I loved America) and you immediately went into hater-mode and said "I doubt that was ever true."
You are a hater. Why? What do you gain from being a hater? Not that you will answer my question. You never do.
Haters are the people who sit back and accept the bullshit that is happening to your country. true Americans are the ones that stand up and promote a change. (Not a Barrack style of change either)
true americans are writing in ron paul am i rite
because I doubt it was ever true, and nothing I’ve read from you indicates otherwise.

the answer is "I’m not a hater."
it makes me giggle when people think they know something and form their question to elicit the response they expect and it backfires.
The America I dream of died almost a hundred years before I was born (1887).

how are you doing this?
Look at the European Union. England has a Constitution that is supposed to prevent the leaders in power from making agreements that end National Sovereignty. Its happening there anyway.
Do you really think that it isn’t going to happen in North America?
What is going to protect our Sovereignty? If the citizens don’t stand up, the United States and the Constitution will exist in name only. They will be replaced by a more powerful Consitution and our Sovereignty will be lost to a larger State.
What about those who dream of an America that elects a black President?
Are you referring to Obama? What does he have to do with anything?
In my time here, I haven’t seen Yail exhibit a hatred for America (at least not his antiquated ideal of it). He’s just cynical of it’s current state, AFAIK.
Irrelevant anyways. The problem is systemic. As long as we stay within the "two party" Republican-Democrat system, there will be no change for the better,
See thread title.
Thanks for defending me, but its really not necessary.
Many people pigeonhole and label those who espouse beliefs that are contrary to their own.
Nobody can understand what I feel inside my heart by my posts here. If I were to describe my feelings, those who oppose my beliefs will ridicule my statements anyway.
If people want to believe in Obama, that is their choice.
I don’t know any black people who feel they relate to Obama.
My personal belief is that the course of the Nation will not change under Obama. Just as I believe it won’t change under McCain.
Obama claimed to be anti-war on his rise to recent prominence. As it turns out, he is nothing of the sort.

the unfortunate fact is, he needs the votes to win, and the way to get those votes is to support war, support israel, claim religion, etc. else he be thought of as weak or a muslim/atheist.
personally, i think (and i hope) he doesn’t really believe in all that. despite his talk on being tough on iran and not taking the bombing option off the table, i dont think he’s really gonna follow through on that. i don’t think he really supports israel all that much either even though he ran to AIPAC after securing the nomination to tell them, ‘america is a friend to israel’. i don’t think religion plays that much a part of his life, as he said it does when he had that little debate with mccain.
the first step to getting this country at least on the right track is NOT having another 4 years of bush.
hope and change so long as it doesn’t interfere with politics as usual
our system encourages and rewards conformity
obama is attractive because he looks different than what we’ve had for President in the past
at the end of the day, he’s just like the rest
should he decide to serve the American people and not the corporate and other powerful interests, i fear we will find his stay in the White House to be short-lived
i think that is a big part of the problem
in the US we don’t vote FOR someone as much as we vote AGAINST the other guy
so our guy really doesn’t have to be all that great and different. because "hey! at least he’s not Bush (McCain)!"
If the important thing about the president in question is that he’s black, it sounds like they’re either racist or have some unresolved personal issues.
Anyway, Yail, the America you speak of hasn’t existed in your lifetime. But not liking the current state of political affairs is no reason to hate the country, as if there is nothing good left here. That’s why so many people get pissed off when they hear people like (sorry but it’s true) Michelle Obama putting down the country in general terms.

I can’t speak to what Michelle Obama may have said.
I can say that everything I have said about my homeland is true to the best of my knowledge.
When telling the truth is "putting down the country," we are in a sad state of affairs.
Is the existence of a tyrannical Government "in my lifetime" a valid reason to accept it tyranny and not criticize it?
Because our current state of government is not tyranny, and to describe it as such is melodramatic and insulting.
Yes, the government is much bigger than I’d like, but we are not anywhere near Mussolini or Stalin levels of control here. Furthermore I don’t believe average Americans will ever allow that to happen. Our heritage is too strong.
england isn’t a country and doesn’t rule itself any more?!?!??!
WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN!?!?!

What do you suggest be done to fix the problem of corporate and powerful interests influencing government?

Ummm….no.
Maybe it’s far less about the president being a minority, and far more about what it says about the American people.
